What Is Bettor IQ?
A complete guide to your prediction skill score, scoring inputs, and how to improve it.
The player in first place is not always the one with the most wins. Raw win count only tells you who made the most predictions; Bettor IQ measures who is actually good at making them.
The short version
Bettor IQ is a single score, updated after every settled prediction, that measures how skilled — not just how lucky — a player or squad is at making sports predictions.
Why we built it
Leaderboards based purely on points or win totals reward volume and risk-taking, not skill. Bettor IQ separates sharp predictions from simple volume so player and squad rankings better reflect prediction ability.
How Bettor IQ is calculated
- • Accuracy: your hit rate across settled predictions, weighted more heavily for recent activity.
- • Difficulty: predictions against the field consensus carry more weight than obvious favorite picks.
- • Consistency: large swings in accuracy pull your score down even if your average is decent.
These inputs combine into a single number, refreshed after each settled game, so your Bettor IQ is always a live read on current form.
What a good score looks like
- • Entry tier: most new players land here while the model gathers enough data.
- • Established: consistent positive accuracy against the field over a meaningful sample size.
- • Elite: players and squads anchoring the top of the leaderboard and driving tier promotion pushes.
How to raise your Bettor IQ
- • Predict consistently, not just often — a steady hit rate beats boom-and-bust streaks.
- • Do not only pick favorites — matching the crowd every time limits how much a correct call moves your score.
- • Stay active — recent form is weighted more heavily, so long inactive stretches let your score drift toward the middle.
Bettor IQ for squads
Squad Bettor IQ is not a simple average of its members. It is weighted toward your most active predictors, so a squad benefits from having several consistently sharp contributors rather than one standout carrying inactive teammates.
